Happy Mother’s Day

This will be a truly short blog post. Just wanted to share several facts about Mother’s Day that you may not know. A day to celebrate America’s mothers was established in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation officially creating the first national Mother’s Day.
The estimated number of mothers in the United States is eighty-five million.
The average age in which a woman becomes a mother in the United States is twenty-six.
In 40% of the households in the United States, the mother is either the sole or primary source of income.
The percentage of single parents who are mothers in the United States is 80%.
These are just statistics on paper that do not convey the love and caring those mothers have for their children.
One of my fondest memories of my mother was of a picnic we had at a family reunion when I was five. It was an extremely sweltering day, but my mother made certain that my sisters and me had the perfect spot to sit down under a big shady tree. She was always very thoughtful of others, and we knew she loved us very much.
I would love to hear your favorite memory of your mother.
Happy Mother’s Day.
